Oakley is much more than a world-famous sports and lifestyle brand with high performance products. Oakley is a way of living; a culture of athletes and creators obsessed with utilizing cutting-edge design and innovation to create unique products and experiences that inspire greatness. For the company, it is important to highlight the human side, as well as the sporting side, showcasing not only the athlete’s talent, but also their role as a leader for future generations, embodying qualities such as empathy and kindness, both on and off the field. These values of self-belief and sharing are crucial for Oakley, which promotes an idea of sport that goes beyond medals and trophies to include moments of vulnerability and self-doubt; the moments when support is so powerful.

For almost half a century, Oakley has been pushing the boundaries of sport performance, bringing the latest in advanced eyewear technology and apparel innovation to people striving for the best results – whether they’re standing on an Olympic podium or running in the nearest park. From omni thermal jackets and backpacks to boardshorts and eyepieces, Oakley products provide the ultimate in comfort, quality and performance. By combining modern aesthetics with unparalleled optics, the manufacturer creates high-end eyewear that gives the wearer both appearance and confidence to be at their best. EuroOptica is proud to be a certified retailer of high-performance Oakley glasses in Manhattan, New York and offer the hottest frames to our west-side neighbors.

      About

Oakley is a high-end sports brand that was born from a genuine desire to improve the quality of peoples’ lives. With a deep focus on innovation and technology, the brand seeks to address both functional needs and the lust for exhilaration and high performance. The Oakley’s customers are courageous, strong people with a passion for action and adventure. The Oakley eyewear collection includes eyeglasses, characterized by superior fit and quality thanks to lightweight materials and comfortable construction; the range of best-selling sunglasses and iconic shades; and high-end goggles that prove to be nothing short of the industry’s very best. Whether on the road, mountain, water, or course, the Oakley glasses allow the wearers to see details earlier, deeper and faster, resulting in an enhanced experience.

Each pair of Oakley glasses is equipped with cutting-edge technologies. Constructed from the lightweight O Matter™ frame material, the glasses provide durability and all-day comfort. The O Matter™ TruBridge™ interchangeable nose pads ensure proper fit, while the no-slip Unobtainium® earsocks increase grip with perspiration. The Oakley frames feature the Three-Point Fit: comfort and performance that holds lenses in precise optical alignment. Most spectacles come available with innovative Prizm™ lenses that ensure enhanced color perception, contrast and detail for an optimized experience. To add a touch of branding, the glasses are embellished with Square O metal icon and front rivet accents. The perfect choice for demanding wearers who value comfort and performance.

      History

What started by James Jannard in 1975 in his garage with an initial investment of $300 has grown into the internationally famous sports and lifestyle brand. The name "Oakley" came from the founder’s English Setter, "Oakley Anne". Jannard began by selling motorcycle grips which were unlike other grips available at the time. The unique material the handlebars were made of was hydrophilic, which was later patented by Jannard with the name of Unobtanium. It is still used to make the ear socks on Oakley glasses, and many of the nose pieces and now the bands of the Oakley watches. By around 1980, the company launched its first pair of glasses – a protective O-frame goggle that became a mainstay in the sports for 17 years.

The company got its big break in 1985, when it sponsored the cycling legend Greg Lemonde on the Tour de France, who wore its new line of Oakley cycling glasses that evolved into Oakley Blades and eventually the Razer Blades. The first pair of Oakley sunglasses saw the world in the early 1990s, continuing to highlight the brand's rugged, athletic design focus. In about 2005, the company presented what became one of its best models - the Oakley Holbrook. Today, Oakley designs and manufactures sports performance equipment and lifestyle pieces including sunglasses, optical frames, ski/snowboard goggles, safety glasses, sports visors, watches, apparel, shoes, backpacks, and other accessories. The brand currently holds more than 600 patents for eyewear, materials, and performance gear.

      Oakley Prizm Lens Technology

Prizm™ is a revolutionary Oakley lens technology that dramatically enhances detail to improve performance and provides ultra-precise color tuning, designed for specific environments. Oakley Prizm blocks any "noisy" light that could interfere with the wearer’s vision, while emphasizing the colors necessary for maximum performance. The added polarization cuts through the glare of the water. The Oakley Prizm lenses are already experienced by world-famous athletes during the best sporting events and in their everyday lives. The fan list includes: cricket player Dale Steyn, golfer Zach Johnson, cyclist Mark Cavendish, mountain biker Julien Absalon, angler Kevin Vandam and other sports celebrities.

With rigorous control over the manufacturing process and details, Oakley produces its unique single-layered lens. In comparison to other eyewear brands that take existing lenses and coat or glue layers of material to improve vision, Oakley mixes materials into the lenses making a molecular bond — no glues and no adhesives — resulting in a crisp, clear view to see details earlier, deeper and faster. All Oakley lenses and frames are designed to perfectly fit each other, as one cohesive unit, ensuring optimum performance. It is Oakley’s lens research, design, technologies, premium materials and manufacturing that results in eyewear pieces good enough for the world’s best.
